Jean-François Bauret (1932-2014) is one of France's best-known photographers of his generation. He is mainly remembered for his nudes and his work for advertising. In both commissioned assignments and his personal investigations, he employs pared-down compositions, presenting bodies in a direct manner and playing with the contrasts of black and white. In his early years, from 1959, he also photographed many artists, famous or still unknown to the general public, at their homes or in their studios. He thus immortalizes moments of intimacy…
